Beschorneria 'Flamingo Glow' and Other Soft-Leaf Succulents
Succulent-focused landscapes need not be uniformly reliant on hard edges and rough textures. Soft-leaf agaves and agave-like plants are excellent choices for low-maintenance, low-water designs where a more delicate effect is desired. Here are some of our favorite plants that might fit the bill, all available now!
Beschorneria ‘Flamingo Glow’ (the variegated beauty at the far right in the above garden) is a lovely agave cousin with soft, flexible leaves striped with vibrant yellow and green.
Once a year, the mature Beschorneria ‘Flamingo Glow’ produces a large bloom stalk in a dramatic bright pink shade (hence the name!).
Fucraea foetida ‘Variegata’ also boasts a striking leaf, with its buttery yellow color and beautifully tapered shape. When mature, this plant will produce fragrant white blooms.
Agave attenuata (pictured above and below) has a spine-free, gently curving leaf that lends a unique elegance to its form. We grow this plant and its soft-leafed cousins (including Agave vilmoriniana and Agave elemeetiana) in many sizes. Check our full availability list for details.
Agave attenuata ‘Ray of Light’ (below) is one of our favorite cultivars, with its subtle pale yellow variegation.
