Monstera Madness

It’s Monstera madness over here! Our outdoor Monstera deliciosa crops are looking gorgeous right now, with big lush 7-gallon, nice full 3-gallon, and adorable baby 6” all ready to go for your orders.

We love this plant for many reasons, but especially for its masterfully sculpted leaves. The young leaves are simple and heart-shaped, without the characteristic splits and holes. Each leaf emerges larger than the last, and with more character, until they are three feet across, with deeply lobed margins. These adaptations are a nod to the hurricanes that Monstera deliciosa endures in habitat, and the plant’s effort to reduce friction in storm winds.

Another amazing Monstera feature is its aerial root system, which can bind on structures and makes M. deliciosa an excellent candidate for training up a fence, wall, or tree. Just be sure they have good moisture around the aerial roots to help them attach to their structure.

We’re tossing Rhaphidophora tetrasperma in with Monstera Madness, even though it’s not really a Monstera at all! Commonly referred to as “Mini Monstera,” this plant is one of the "it” girls among houseplants right now, and our crop is looking amazing.
