Grass-Like Plants Play Well With Others
Plants with grassy texture are so versatile, complementing many different styles of landscapes with softness and movement. Grasses and grass-like plants can provide soft accents in designs with strong geometry or natural wildness in more rustic gardens. Here are a few favorite grass-like plants among our current selections.
Lomondra longifolia ‘Breeze’ works beautifully as a foundation plant for meadow designs, or you can use just a few as an accent alongside more sculptural plants like large succulents.

Hesperaloe parviflora production crop
Hesperaloe parviflora is another succulent with a grassy texture, perfect for desert-style landscapes when you want a pop of sunset color from a bright bloom (below).
Beaucarnea recurvata, the “ponytail palm,” has a gorgeous grassy texture with tendril-like leaves that make it perfect for pots. This plant is a popular houseplant, but it can thrive outdoors in temperate climates, too.
Grasses and their look-alikes make excellent container plants! Grassy softness with a ceramic or metal finish can make a gorgeous design pair.
